Bhuvan Pahar the abode of Lord Shiva, situated in the north-eastern state of Assam. This hill is situated almost 50 km away from Silchar. At the top of this hill, there is a Shiva temple where thousands of people from various parts of the state visit during Maha Shivratri to worship Lord Shiva. This temple is very significant pilgrimage of Assam. It takes almost 3 to 4 hours to climb the hill and to reach the place where the famous Shiva temple is situated. On the way, there lies a renowned Lakshmi cave temple. It is believed that only virtuous and devoted people can reach there. Keeping a daylong fast, pilgrims from across the region climb the hills and worship Shiva after taking a dip in a pond near the temple. The pilgrims climb the steep hills with the help of sticks. The elderly and children climb with the help of others. It is an amazing experience to pass a whole night at the top of this hill from where a far view of the Mizoram hills can be watched. It is also better to spend a night there as it becomes very tiresome to return on the same day.

The Assam government under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sharma is planning to develop Bhuvan Hills of Cachar district in the BarakValley as a major tourist destination of Assam.

The State Forest and Environment , fisheries and excise minister, Parimal Suklabaidya, said the government was keen to develop Bhuvan Hills like the Kamakhya temple at Nilachal Hills in Guwahati.

We hope that the initiative taken by our CM Himanta Biswa Sharma and the State Forest and Environment , fisheries and excise minister, Parimal Suklabaidya of making Bhuvan hill as the most important pilgrimage of Assam is achieved very soon.....

Requesting everyone to visit Bhuvan Pahar whenever you visit Silchar.

HAR HAR MAHADEV
